The OTERO Program: Ocular Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Ophthalmology
The OTERO program research teams aim to restore, maintain or enhance the functions of the eye through regenerative medicine-based technologies.
The OTERO program is a postdoctoral research program where each fellow studies under co-investigators, one of whom is a clinician who specializes in ophthalmology, and the other investigator is a scientist that is a leader in regenerative medicine technologies such as tissue engineering or cellular therapy. The goal is for this integration of disciplines to produce original and innovative solutions not previously conceived, and to streamline the sometimes lengthy process of research when it does cross into more than one specialty.
